OdysseyStage Open Call for Original Play Submissions

OdysseyStage is based in the Triangle area, discovering and nurturing new works by North Carolina playwrights.

OdysseyStage Playwriting Submission for 2024: October 1 – November 15, 2023

Guidelines and Instructions:

  • Submissions are open to all writers legally residing in North Carolina.
  • We highly value contributions from multicultural writers.
  • Your submission must adhere to the standard play format.
  • Play length should range between 50 to 120 pages.
  • Limit characters to eight actors unless incorporating double or triple casting.
  • Prioritize diversity in casting.
  • Submissions must represent an original piece from a single author.
  • The play should neither be in current production nor have been produced by another company.
  • We do not accept screenplays.
  • Submit only finished pieces—refrain from sending early drafts.
  • Playwrights should be prepared to engage in the process and attend readings.
  • We are accepting submissions from October 1 to November 15, 2023.
  • Email your script in Word or PDF format to us HERE. Use “Staged: Submission” as your subject line.
